The Circular School of Life and Death
KORA is a platform for learning and accompaniment that seeks to transform our relationship with finitude, grief, illness, care, and the natural cycles of life.
We propose reclaiming the relational dimension of death and bringing it back to the centre of life as an experience to be shared and dignified.
A space where death is understood as a passage and a process of regeneration, and where living means embracing our embodied condition and, therefore, our limited, vulnerable, and interdependent nature.
We believe there is no single right way to die, nor to live, and that each process requires finding its own form.
Through an international network of collaborators, drawing on the rigour and first-hand experience of those who have gone through these processes themselves, we share knowledge and tools that are not usually readily accessible, aimed at developing a more holistic understanding of the processes of accompaniment.
We will soon launch our educational programme, which will include online and in-person courses, retreats, downloadable resources, and 1:1 accompaniment.
KORA takes its name from a figure in archaic Greek mythology associated with the passage between life and death. An ancient name for Persephone, Kora embodies the descent into the underworld, the dwelling in the shadows, and the cyclical return to the surface.
Her myth, central to the Eleusinian Mysteries, inspires a pedagogy of finitude based on understanding death as part of the cycle of life, and on creating containers for attention, presence, and listening. It also inspires us to offer, in an accessible educational format, a whole network of people and projects proposing new ways of relating to death.
