Residency CEAAC – Hangar

Residencia CEAAC – Hangar

Through the exchange program with Hangar we have been in residence at the Centre Européen d’Actions Artistiques Contemporaines (CEAAC) in Strasbourg between December 4 and December 11, 2023.

Alice Narcy and Alice Motard have been our hosts, and their support for our work has been marked by attentive listening and generosity. Thanks to them, we have connected with local agents who have helped us broaden our perspective and engage in a dialogue about our research with other approaches to death. We interviewed Magalie Roy, a master of civil funeral ceremonies and co-manager at Pompes Funebres de France, with whom we delved into funeral practices and legislation in the French context. We visited Aux temps du sida at MAMCS, accompanied and guided by the exhibition’s curator, Anna Miller, and met Laura Dieblod, who introduced us to the practice of anapanasati meditation.

Inside the studio, we have immersed ourselves in an intensive writing process that has invoked ghosts and stirred the past. If blood is life 🩸, it is the beginning of a creative process in which our personal experiences intertwine with the knowledge that has accumulated from the questions we pose in Morir Guay. Life stories are the bone core, as the friends from La Poderosa call it, and the raw material that we are beginning to shape with their assistance.
